This term, Year 6 have been studying Harry Potter, with their home learning project to create a ‘Book nook.’ From a recent blog, you could see the children making great progress with these, and finally, after several sessions of glue guns, sawing, clay moulding and painting, we chose the winning entries from across the year group.
After much deliberation, we took seven entries to Waterstones in Poole, with sixteen children invited to partake in their annual Harry Potter evening. When we arrived, some of the ‘Book nooks’ were displayed in the window of the shop, surrounded by other Harry Potter merchandise, which was a lovely surprise for the children.
The others were embedded in the book shelves themselves, for the children to discover. It didn’t take them too long to discover their designs once they had started looking! They looked really effective, especially surrounded by Harry Potter volumes.
Amidst the different Harry Potter events taking place, such as the Harry Potter quiz, fancy dress costumes etc., we managed to get the children for a few seconds to take their photos next to their winning designs.
It was a really excellent evening, and we are really grateful for Waterstones for hosting the ‘Book nooks’ and the number of children and adults who were able to attend the event. Well done Year 6!
