Crazy Creatures visit KPS

Year 4 had a very exciting day last week when Crazy Creatures came to visit with their collection of cool critters. The session leader was really impressed with the children’s knowledge about rainforests from what they had been learning in class. However, he was still able to teach us lots of brilliant new facts about the different creatures.

We met a hissing cockroach and giant millipede, which we learnt help to keep rainforests alive by eating dead leaves on the ground and creating compost. We also met a Pacman frog, which has no teeth and instead has to blink to use his eye muscles to chew his food! After that, the tarantula and scorpion came out, but luckily they stayed in the box!

The most exciting part was the snakes. The children were able to hold the snake or even have it around their necks if they wanted! Luckily, it wasn’t a dangerous snake, but the children were still very brave!

Year 4 will be using the visit from Crazy Creatures as inspiration for their letter writing in the coming weeks and we can’t wait to see their fantastic writing at the end of our unit!
