Over the next week, our Year 3 classes are all visiting the Dorset Museum in Dorchester. During our visit we are focussing on discovering more about the Romans.
During our visit today, the classes were able to examine real Roman mosaics, then dressed up and created their own mosaic patterns.
After that we became archaeologists and discovered objects found in a “burial site”. These were replica objects, which we were then able to find the real versions of in the museum.
After lunch, we walked to the Roman House. We were lucky enough to get the chance to go inside which not many visitors get to do. We saw a well where the Romans got their water, the underwater heating system, the mosaic floors and talked about the different rooms in a Roman house.
