This term, Year 2 have been looking at lots of different inventions and inventors that have changed the way we live today.
In design technology, the children were challenged to make a nursery rhyme more interesting by creating a story box that included a mechanism. The children learnt about all different types of mechanisms and discussed how they could be used to make a nursery rhyme more interesting.
They began by designing their story boxes, thinking carefully about how their design must look to include the moving mechanism. They discussed materials, considering the most practical resource to use for their individual story box.
Once they completed their design, the children collected the needed resources and began making their story boxes. They ensured the mechanism was effective, adapting their designs to complete the task.
As an outcome to the project, Year 2 children took their story boxes to the reception children and performed their chosen nursery rhyme.
The children will now be thinking about evaluating their projects, reflecting on successes and areas for improvement.
Well done Year 2.
