Year 5 have been thrilled by the amazing underwater kingdom in the book Flotsam this week. They explored the story of a boy who finds an ancient camera, only to discover weird and wonderful pictures on it. On the first day, they used their reading skills to think about what they know, what they could infer and what they still wanted to find out about the story.
The next day, the children recapped their knowledge of expanded noun phrases, using two exciting adjectives to describe nouns.
Next, they recapped fronted adverbials and wrote ‘ing, ed’ sentences about the boy discovering the camera.
Finally, the children showcased all the sentence types they have learnt this week in a piece of descriptive writing. What a fabulous job they all did!
