Going the extra mile!

A Non-uniform Day – London Marathon Charity Fundraiser took place Friday 9th July 2021 at Kingsleigh Primary School.
Three members of staff from Kingsleigh Primary School are running the London Marathon in October, two of them will be in London and one will be running a virtual London Marathon around the streets of Bournemouth.  Mrs Manston’s husband will also be taking part in the event.
To support Mr Young, Mrs Weller, Mrs Couling and Mr Manston husband, all children were invited to wear their favourite sportswear to school on Friday 9th July.
During the day, each of the 27 classes ran two laps of the school field alongside Mr Young, Mrs Weller and Mrs Couling, covering  a combined distance of 400 miles!
Mr Young ran 13 miles with the children, covering 50-60 laps!
The families and staff of Kingsleigh Primary School raised over £1000 for the charities that are being supported. There was a real sense of Planet Belonging amongst the children and staff.
Mr Lumber said, ‘I personally really enjoyed the day, having the chance to host a school event like that again was fantastic. It was also great to support the three members of staff and Mrs Manston’s husband, Dave.  I take pride in my staff being such good ambassadors and role models for the charities, the school, running and putting themselves out their comfort zones. It was also really clear to see how much the children and staff loved the day, cheering each other on so nicely.  It was a privilege to be part of their challenges.’
