Haiku Challenge

We have seen some fabulous working coming in from Year 5 over the past few days and last week. We still haven’t heard from all of you, so do make sure you let us know how home schooling is going. The Year 5 teachers have set a couple of challenges for you to have a go at and we were so impressed with your responses that we would like to share them with you all.

Miss Milliner set us an English challenge which was to write a Hauki poem- this is a traditional Japanese poem that consists of 3 lines, with each line containing a certain amount of syllables. If you haven’t had a go at this challenge you can find it on the Year 5 page or on the YouTube channel.

Here are a few examples inspired by what you found in your gardens.

It’s great to see you brainstorming your ideas…

and keeping track of how many syllables are in each line!

We cannot emphasis enough how proud we are of you all, you have taken to the challenges of home learning extremely well! Keep it up year 5 and keep sending in your videos. Keep an eye on the YouTube challenge for new challenges being set and a couple of teacher challenges too!
