The children in preschool are developing their fine motor skills daily. Through adult led activities or during their own play, the children have opportunities to develop the strength in their arms, hands and fingers. They are able to use a range of resources to support their fine motor skills inside and outside in the garden.
During Squiggle Time, the adults encourage the children to mark make using both hands. They then practise the squiggle shape we are learning that week using their left and right hand at the same time!
Not only is it mark making tools (crayons, chalks, pens) that support fine motor skills we also use scissors, tweezers, threading, stickers and even the climbing frame helps to strengthen our arms and hands! Providing all these opportunities for the children will ensure they are able to form shapes to draw pictures and begin to write letters too.
