In Reception, we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Holi. Holi is celebrated in March/April and celebrates the end of winter and the coming of spring, and the triumph of good over evil. It is a festival of colour and people often throw coloured powder at each other. We decided to make artwork based on this.
We drew round each other and decorated with handprints!
The finished product looked amazing! We even threw powder paint on our creations, like they do in the Holi festival!
As well as this, we also made paintings full of colour and decorated little people as if they were in the Holi festival too.
We have really enjoyed learning about Holi festival and this topic has lead us perfectly into our new topic of colour mixing! Our new class book is called ‘Mixed’ and we’re so excited to read it! What a fun week we’ll have next week!
