How to Make a Salt Dough Fossil

Children in Year 3 have been creating their own fossils using Salt Dough. We recapped what we had learnt about fossils in Science and investigated the most common type of fossil, an ammonite. These were ancient sea creatures. We have also been learning about instructions so we were able to carefully follow the instructions to make our own ammonite fossils.

We made the salt dough fossils in class following the steps in our method.

These were then baked to harden the dough. A few days later we went on our own fossil hunt in the playground and imagined life as an archaeologist!
