This week, the children have been learning all about instruction writing. They began the unit of work learning a text map based around a ‘Wonka Wash Machine.’
The children then designed their own text maps based around how to look after an alien.
Once the children completed their individual text maps, they began writing. The children began with an exciting opening paragraph, including rhetorical questions and noun, who, which, where, when sentences.
After that, the children used commas for a list of items and resources needed to look after an alien.
Once completed, the children used their knowledge of conjunctions and imperative verbs to write a set of detailed instructions.
Finally, the children expressed a final note of warning based around their own alien.
The children finished the unit of work by designing their own aliens.
