On Sunday 18th November, Kingsleigh Primary School entered two teams in the Dorset Tumbling Competition at Rossmore Leisure Centre. We have not entered this competition for over ten years so we were all a little nervous! Over twenty schools took part and many of the teams had children that belonged to a gym club and had entered this competition before.
Both teams performed their individual routines. Each child did this independently and they were marked by the judges. The routine needed to flow without stopping and they had to travel in a straight line.
The sequence was as followed: forward roll, stretch-jump, cartwheel, chasse, cartwheel, cartwheel.
After all the schools had performed, five schools in each category were then asked to stay as they had qualified for the final. We were pleasantly surprised when the girls team were one of these teams! The girls had to perform their routine again and the judges scored each child. Overall we came 5th which is a great achievement for our Gymnastic Team. Their coaches and teachers were extremely proud of them!
Thank you to all the parents who stayed and supported the team – it is always appreciated!
