Reception have been very busy in Maths! We have been thinking about the numbers 6, 7 and 8. We had great fun creating arrangements of 6,7,and 8 on tens frames using all sorts of fun resources including pom-poms, counters and cubes! We had to use our super counting skills and think about how to place them. We looked at the tens frames together and thought carefully about any patterns we could see. What do you notice?
We looked for insects and counted how many legs they had. We hunted high and low and all around for insects. We worked hard to think of ways to show how many we had found and how many legs they had. That took a lot of counting!
We explored different ways to show 6,7 and 8 together and to notice any patterns. Can you see the difference between the towers?
Children thought about how to show 6 in different ways too. We created ladybird spots using counters. How could you show 6 using 2 numbers?
The creative painting activity was lots of fun! We looked at rainbows and counted how many colours we could see. It was tricky to see all the separate colours. We enjoyed creating beautiful rainbows.
I wonder where we might find 6,7,or 8 next? Can you show these numbers too?
