This half term Year 6 have been completing a project all about life in the ancient past. The civilisation they asked questions about and explored was the Mayan society.
Each week, they investigated different aspects of Mayan life and compared it to their own. They discovered that many foods we eat today, such as avocados and chocolate were also enjoyed by the Mayan people. Cacao was even used as money to enable trading. The Mayans had their own number system made of dots and lines, their own alphabet (similar to Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs) and a calendar with 19 months!
After learning so many fascinating facts, the children recalled their understanding by creating a double page spread on all they had learnt.
Well done Year 6
