The children have started a fun, new programme called, ‘Squiggle while you wiggle’. This is to support children’s gross and fine motor skills to help them become fantastic writers.
Everyday, we put on some upbeat music and pick up our ‘flipper flappers’ (small pieces of material) and do lots of different moves. These moves help to build up our shoulder strength which helps the children to hold a pencil, ready for writing.
First, we do our movement in the air and then the children use pencils or colourful pens to make the shape on paper too. This will then help them to form letters more accurately.
It’s lovely to see the children having so much fun with mark making and writing!
