Swim Team Success

On Saturday 9th March, our year 5 and 6 swimming squad competed in the Bournemouth Swimming Gala at Littledown.  The teams had been training really well and they were all very excited for this event.  It was a fabulous evening and all of the children who swam did us proud.

Firstly, our Year 5 girls competed in as many races as they could! Skye swam in the backstroke and breastroke race fantastically well! Katie, who swims for Swim Bournemouth, took part in the freestyle and butterfly races – it was remarkable to see the progress she has made in a year. Both girls finished in a good position. Well done girls!

To end the Year 5 gala the girls team swam in two relays (mixed and freestyle). It was then that Amelia and Jessica were able to show off the progress they have made too.  This team came third in their mixed medley relay.

Well done girls – we are extremely proud of you and are already looking forward to next year.

So after a great Year 5 gala it was time for Year 6 team to enter the pool . These two teams certainly didn’t let us down either!  Firstly, we got to witness a brilliant swim from Olivia, in the Club Swimmers 100 metres freestyle race. The rest of the team were fantastic,  really cheering her on; they were so proud that she was from our school. Well done Olivia for coming 2nd!  Martha, Ryan, Alfie and Maddison also did a great job in their individual races, finishing in good positions.  Both teams also competed in both relays. Charlotte, Tyler and Aidan were then part of the swimming teams for these events; they had been working really hard on their strokes to ensure did they their best for their team which they most certainty did.

The boys finished in 3rd position in this mixed relay which is a huge achievement for them!

The girls did extremely well last year so we were excited to see watch them – they certainly did not let us down!

They stormed both events, coming 1st in both their heats! Fantastic swimming girls!

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported , not only their child, but the whole squad!
