Last Friday, a selection of children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 went to Southbourne Tennis Club to take part in a tennis competition. It was a hot day and we were all excited to start!
Our first challenge was to use our ball handling and coordination skills to work as a team to get the most balls into a bucket. We did this first using fancy footwork and then dribbling the ball using our tennis rackets.
Next, we worked in pairs to rally balls into a hoop across the court. It took all our concentration to maintain our accuracy.
Then we used our best serves to aim at our partner and get them to catch the ball. We found that if we hit the ball more gently, we were able to be more accurate with our catching. Our teams worked exceptionally well together, showing the best of Planet Belonging.
Finally, we played doubles against the other schools. We listened carefully to the rules given to us by the coach and were good sportspeople whether we scored or not.
Well done, Kingsleigh!
