The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This week we were learning all about the story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This is a lovely story and we know lots of Reception children know it really well. Here is Jack and Malika enjoying the story book at home.

Can you answer these questions:

  1. What did the caterpillar eat first?
  2. What did the caterpillar eat last?
  3.  How did the caterpillar feel after eating a lot?

The children were also thinking about the life cycle of a butterfly. Lots of them investigated how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. These children found out more information and created models of the life cycle.

For the creative challenge this week we encouraged the children to make props for retelling the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We said you could use any materials and we had some lovely ones sent in. The children below have made either a caterpillar or butterfly or both. Can you spot which one?

As you can see the children have been very busy and have produced some fantastic work again this week. All the adults at school are very proud of every one in Reception and can’t wait to see you all again soon. Take care: Woodpeckers, Robins, Owls & Kingfishers!
