Unbe-leaf-able Learning!

In Reception this week, we have been looking at the season of autumn and everything it contains. To begin our week we read the story of The Little Red Hen. From here, the children decorated hen pictures with leaves for some artwork.

Some children also made masks of the characters to retell the story.

As well as all this, we also did some wonderful phonics and labelled the characters!

We explored the meaning behind The Little Red Hen and what harvest is. In the story, the hen makes bread from the wheat she’s grown. So we made bread too which we then took home to eat. Yum!

Over the weekend, lots of the children collected autumn objects such as leaves, pine cones, conkers and acorns amongst lots of other things. We decided to use these wonderful objects to make more lovely artwork.

As well as looking at Autumn, Reception have also been learning the composition of the numbers 1, 2 and 3. To help us, we made our own Numberblocks!

We’ve had such an amazing week, we cannot wait to see what surprises and fun next week brings!
