Although this is not the start to 2021 that we wished for, the Reception children have ‘zoomed’ into their home learning with enthusiasm and positivity.
A big thank you to all the children and parents for making the first week of remote learning a success. We started the week with the story ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy. It is all about a little bear who imagines he zooms into space in a rocket made out of a cardboard box. The children were quick to predict where the bear might be whooshing off to and we had some fabulous suggestions, including one suggestion of the beach! We were so impressed by the quality of writing too – some amazing sounding out.
We had lots of children drawing or making rockets too. We particularly liked the colourful one using left over Christmas chocolate wrappers, makes all the chocolate eating worthwhile!
Some children found a box like Baby Bear and pretended to take their own teddies to ‘Space’.
The children thought about whether or not they would like to go to the moon. Some said it would be great as they would meet aliens but some said they may be scared to go alone. What do you think, would you like to go the moon?
