Year 3 are enjoying their topic ‘Woodland Watch’. We will be exploring our wonderful British woodlands and looking at ways we can help protect the vulnerable habitats that we would find there. We kicked off our week with Art and DT projects that involved making edible bird feeders and hedgehogs out of leaves.
The children loved making their bird feeders although the lard got a little messy and greasy!
Children used dry leaves to create textured hedgehogs and enjoyed using different sized leaves to help recreate a hedgehogs spikes.
The children were also fortunate to ‘virtually chat’ with a New Forest Park Ranger and she provided information about her job role and what the children can start doing to help protect the Woodlands.
The children are looking forward to finding out more about the British Woodlands and exploring our topic further.
