Year 3 have been working extremely hard over the last 3 weeks in their English lessons. We started our English unit by reading ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura and doing some cave paintings to get into the mind of a stone age child. Then we learned our Stone Age boy text map. The children thought of great actions to help them remember the text!
When the children were confident with the story, they looked at innovating the story and using some of their own ideas to change the story to include different characters and a new setting. We also looked at 2A sentences and the children enjoyed writing their own 2A sentences ready to use in their own stories.
In the final week of work on the Stone Age Boy the children have invented their own story openings using the same structure as our original text map. They have worked so hard and their work has been a pleasure to read. A big well done Year 3!
