Year 5 studies SPACE!

To infinity and beyond has been fully embraced by Year 5 as they begin their topic, ‘Earth and Beyond’.

The children began the topic by researching space in the schools non fiction library.

“I didn’t know that Venus is called the Earth’s twin,” stated Aidan.

“I’m excited about learning all different planets in our solar!” Georgia claimed.

The children studied the size of the Earth and Moon in relation to the Sun and discussed its orbit around the sun.

They were then set the task of drawing the solar system, labelling the planets and adding the size of each planet on their diagram. Although not exactly to scale, the children tried to draw the planets, thinking about their size and where they are situated in our solar system.

Effy was also rewarded with star points for her fantastic home learning project, a model of the solar system.
