This Weeks Learning
In English, Year 4 will be consolidating learning from the year. We will be taking part in grammar and punctuation activities and revisiting where inverted commas go in text.
In Maths, we will be revisiting using the Cuisenaire rods for measurement, fractions and number bonds. We will be developing our understanding of the white rod not always having to be worth one. With fractions, it may represent tenths, hundredths of half.
As it is the last week of the school year and the children have worked so hard, we will be having ice creams and games outside during the week too.
Main topic info
This half term, we are launching our new topic Scrumdiddlyumptious! During this topic, we will be focussing on our Science objectives and thinking about the food we put into us and how it travels through our digestive system. We will also be looking at the care of our teeth and the different purposes each set has. To launch our topic, we will be making fruit dishes and taking part in some food tasting. Throughout the half term, the children will learn how to have a healthy diet and the best way to look after their bodies. The children will write healthy recipes and create a class recipe book for others to use. As part of our P.E. the children will produce their own aerobic workout video.

In Year 4, children are still expected to read every school day and practise their spellings and times tables daily. The expectation is that children will know all of their times tables by the end of Year 4. We appreciate your support with this.
We are excited to begin swimming again every Friday and our indoor PE sessions will be on Tuesdays. It’s useful for children to have their PE kits in school every day and take them home at the end of each half term.
If you have any concerns, please do speak to your child’s class teacher or any of our team. We look forward to our year together.
