This week in English, we will be looking at a Christmas advert to inspire writing emotive diaries and be focusing on using a 2 pair sentence to enhance our writing skills. In Maths, we shift our focus away from multiplication to division. We will understand what it means to divide a number and use both multiplication and division skills to problem solve.
Welcome back and we all hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing half term. Our topic this half term is called ‘Where in the world?’ which will have a geography focus. As we begin our English work this half term, children will be creating adventure stories based on the short animation ‘Taking Flight’ which describes a young boy’s imaginary adventures with his Granddad. As the build up to Christmas begins, we will be using Christmas advertisements as a writing stimulus for writing diaries. During Maths, Year 4 will be consolidating and mastering their addition and subtraction skills before exploring multiplication and division skills.
In Geography, we will be exploring the world and understanding the geographical features of various locations across the world. Children will gain vital insights into different cultures to help them understand the world around them. We will be using compass points to help locate continents and countries. Our Science learning leads to the children understanding about the digestion system and staying healthy. The children will get the opportunity to perform a fun experiment understanding how we digest and process food.
This half term is always very busy and exciting especially as we build up to Christmas. We hope that the children will enjoy their learning and demonstrate outstanding learning behaviours throughout the half term. If you any questions or concerns, please speak to one of the team and we will be more than happy to help.
