This week, we have been planning and making cute bookmarks as part of DT. We first looked at lots of different designs, but settled on a corner bookmark as we could add lots of detail and have a go at embroidery.
We first revised the stitches we knew (we made puppets back in Year 3) and practised threading the needle. We definitely found this part the trickiest! Next, we cut out our fabric and discussed the best way to begin stitching. After sewing the seam, we then chose the buttons and designs we would create on our bookmark. We all had a go at embroidering our initials onto our bookmarks. Thinking how to do this was difficult, but with the support of our friends, we were able to complete it.
This lesson was definitely a test of our teamwork skills as we often lost the thread or went wrong in our stitch. Thank you Year 5 for all your help!
