Geography in Year 6

This week, Year 6 have been delving further into their Geography and learning all about biomes. We began by first considering what an Ecosystem is, and how they might differ, before using this to develop our understanding of biomes.

We examined multiple different types of Biome; including taiga, deserts, tundra and grasslands. We discovered how important precipitation is in determining what type of biome exists in an area and how geographical location is likely to affect this.

As we progress with our Geography this term, we will be learning all about the continent of Antarctica including its physical and human characteristics (which ties in neatly with our English work on Shackleton’s adventures)!

Did you know, the dry valleys in Antarctica are the driest place on Earth!?
