Jasper’s Beanstalk

This week in reception we have continued our learning of the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ by Nick Butterworth.

The children have learnt the story with the help of our Text map and even created actions to help us remember the order of the story. Some children even drew their own version of the story !

The children were very excited to start thinking about growing seeds. The children discussed what our seed would need to grow. The classes talked about the best place to place the seeds to help them grow big and strong with some water, soil and sunlight. Reception have been very patient and excited to see their seeds beginning to sprout! We wonder how tall the plants will get?!

In maths, children have been exploring and comparing length. Some children constructed a very tall tower, nearly as tall as Mr Maguire!!!

They had the opportunity to investigate which items they could find that were the same, longer or shorter than their foot. This was a great talking point and they found lots of interesting things. The children loved investigating how far their cars would go. They worked hard to think of different ways to measure how far their vehicle had travelled. Great maths discussion was going on here!

Reception have been super creative and have been using all sorts of to create representations of Jasper and his garden! Check out these creative works!
