As part of our winter learning, Gifted and Talented Art Club have been looking at wintery skies and how we could create this effect with watercolours.
First, we looked at a variety of skyscapes and discussed where the light would be coming from. Then, we practised our wash skills and created our backgrounds. We worked hard to develop our skills in blending so that we didn’t have lines of colour and made our work look more natural.
After that, we discussed how we could use our line drawing skills to create a mountainous silhouette which would overlay the sky, showing lighter towards the peaks. We think they look very effective!
After composing our pieces, some of us chose to include a quote from a favourite story and aim to back and possibly frame these at home.
