Year 2 have been showing off their talents in textiles by making their very own cuddle monsters!
First of all, the children looked at some stories and video clips of different monsters, as well as real life cuddly toys, and thought about what makes a good monster. They then thought about what emotion they would like to be associated with their own monster and what colours and designs might fit that emotion. The children designed their own cuddle monsters and thought about everything they would need to make it.
Finally, it was time to make them! Thankfully, we had lots of adult helpers to support the children with their sewing and we had a fantastic morning! The children used the running stitch to attach their chosen coloured pieces of felt together and didn’t forget to leave a hole to stuff their monster before finishing it off. Last but not least, the monsters had to be decorated. It was such a joy to see the children get creative and make their cuddle monster special.
The results were incredible! The children took so much pride in their cuddle monsters and wowed us all with how amazingly they turned out. What a fantastic week we had in Year 2!
