Where do plants come from?

In Year 3, we have been learning about plants. As part of our learning, we looked at some different kinds of seeds, including cress, tomato seeds, peas, basil and some daffodil bulbs.

Next we planted our seeds in groups. We used our knowledge about the requirements of life of plants to think about what to do.

We watered our seeds and put them by the windowsill.

We watched some time lapse videos of various plants growing to see what will be happening in the next few days and weeks.

Even after a few days we have noticed that the cress has started to sprout and the daffodils have buds on them.

We are now starting to learn about the functions of different plant parts, their life cycle, pollination and how water is transported around a plant. Watch this space for more exciting Year 3 science work.
