Year 1 Letter Writers!

This week, the Year 1 children have been learning all about letter writing. On Monday, Miss Pollard read the story ‘The Jolly Postman’ and showed the children all the different types of letters that people write.

For Tuesday’s challenge, Mrs Rendell asked the children to think about who they would write a letter to and what questions they might ask them. The children came up with some super questions!

For their Wednesday work, Mrs Nichol asked the children to write a letter, using their questions. Some children wrote to their friends and family, and others chose to write to story characters, offering them some very useful advice!

Thursday’s challenge was to write a postcard and design the picture on the front. We really enjoyed reading all the lovely postcards and we spotted some super artwork as well! Here are a few of the designs..

For their final challenge on Friday, Mrs Stacey asked the children to make a card for a friend or family member. Here are a few of the cards that the children wrote. We were particularly impressed with the acrostic poems that were sent in!

Well done, Year 1! You have had lots of fun with your letter writing this week and the teachers have really enjoyed receiving such wonderful work!
