Last week, ten year six boys went to The Predator Tournament at Littledown Sports Centre. They were feeling optimistic but unassuming of what might be in store for them.
They started their first game strongly, winning 3-0 which raised the confidence and set the standard for the rest of the day. Shortly after, they met their previous rivals, who won the last game we played against them. Both teams battled hard and the game finished at 0-0. After a quick team talk about tactics we were ready and raring for our next game.
Once we’d played all four games obtaining 7 points, we had a long and painful wait to find out that we had made it through to the semi-finals.
This is when we met our match, another really talented local school!! The game was a competitive draw which meant we would be undertaking a penalty shoot out to decide the winner. Scoring all four penalties we were on the way to the final!
The final game was closely fought with the opposing team just winning through penalties. The boys really fought till the end and we as staff, were extremely proud of their efforts and excellent sportsmanship. Alongside this, the organiser commented on the boy’s sportsmanship, saying they were a credit to the school.
Although we came a close second place, we are really excited to announce we will be going to the county finals!! Great work boys! Keep it up!
