Year Two children had a very exciting day Tuesday 10th of March! It was the amazing, long-awaited trip to Portsmouth Dockyards. When we arrived, all four classes visited the Navy and the Nelson Museum or went on board the HMS flag ship. The most wonderful thing was watching the children’s faces light up as they saw the enormity of the HMS Victory!
Inside, we were treated to talks by the Navy reps. They shared facts about Lord Nelson. We were stood in what would have been Nelson’s cabin quarters.
The children travelled around the ship and even got to the top and bottom decks! We saw the spot where Nelson was shot and fell!
Year Two children were wonderfully behaved, representing our school so beautifully!
We can now answer Callum Newton’s question….What was life like in the Navy back during Lord Nelson’s time and what is it like now?
We have made super memories!!
